How telehealth is changing daily routines

I started adding a “two-minute buffer” to every telehealth slot to verify audio/ID and agree on one agenda item — since last week it’s cut down on after-visit messages and made my notes cleaner. If the video platform stalls (we use Zoom), I pivot to phone immediately and document the switch, which keeps the day moving without overruns.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I’ve been texting a tiny ‘pre-flight’ checklist the day before: ‘test mic, have ID handy, one goal’ and it’s cut my no-shows about 15%; @gwhite06 your buffer pairs well with that. If video flakes, I switch to phone and document why instead of rescheduling; I also share this patient prep link: https://telehealth.hhs.gov/patients/prepare-for-telehealth-appointment.

But i added a 45-second ‘tech warm-up’ at the start of my day — open the platform, run the mic/cam test, and prep a backup text (‘If video drops, I’ll call you from 555-0123’). Since last week that’s cut the awkward ‘can you hear me?’ openings, though older devices still derail us sometimes so I keep a dial-in ready, @Guide.
